WSBID After Hours Mobile Security Program
Spring 2024 – Funded by NYC Councilman David Carr and NYC Small Business Services Single District Grant
A mobile security patrol will be facilitated for several months during the Spring of 2024. The patrol service serves two critical roles: 1) act as a deterrent for potential crimes and 2) assist in the collection of data to supplement law enforcement. This service will monitor any unusual activities or incidents and report them to local authorities. In addition, it will work with local property owners to ensure the exchange of useful information to prevent illegal activities.
Water Management Research and Planning
Ongoing 2024-2025
As climate change impacts all areas along the eastern seaboard, the WSBID is actively researching technological, environmental, and policy solutions to prepare for rising sea levels and the threat of superstorms. Part of this research has included several studies that have been undertaken in the past ten years to equip the WSBID with an understanding of costs and options for water management and flood mitigation. Concurrently, the WSBID has been actively pursuing large grants and funds from state and federal sources to engage in large-scale projects in the vicinity.
Infrastructure and Roadway Improvements Program
Ongoing 2024-2025
The roadways of the WSBID are utilized by a variety of vehicles including large trucks, mobile construction equipment, buses, and automobiles. To facilitate orderly traffic with minimal logistical problems, it is essential to provide ongoing maintenance and repairs. The WSBID is in the process of working with the NYC Department of Transportation to repair six sites that require attention. In addition, the WSBID is also poised to use its capital reserves to make other repairs as part of other grants and funding sources. It is imperative that the infrastructure committee of the WSBID remains in front of all roadway issues and part of our program includes constant monitoring of structural conditions of the roads. The WSBID also works with the NYC DOT and NYC DEP to report conditions and make repair requests as needed.
